Q. Do I need a permit to burn anything in my yard?
A. Yes, You must have a permit to burn anything outside. Please click here to find out more information.
Q. How do I get a burn permit?
A. Please stop at the fire station during regular business hours to obtain a permit. All permits are free of charge.
Q. Does the Fire District offer any CPR or first aid training for the public?
A. Yes, Periodic training by qualified instructors is offered to the general public for CPR and first aid. Call the station at 859-342-7505 ext 102 or email dbrefeld@elsmerefd.com to find out when classes are held.

Q. Can I plant shrubbery or paint the fire hydrant in my yard?
A. No, by city ordinance every fire hydrant shall be clear of any obstruction in a radius of 10 feet. Fire hydrants are color coded to indicate available water flow. Please do not paint or remove the color stripe from the hydrant.
Q. What is the Fire District’s insurance rating classification?
A. Currently the fire district is a class four. Contact Asst. Chief Doug Brefeld at dbrefeld@elsmerefd.com or 859-342-7505 ext 102 if your insurance agent needs additional information.
Q. Can I obtain a shoulder patch?
A. Yes, submit a written request to the district by contacting Jeremy Sheehan at jsheehan@elsmerefd.com or 859-342-7505 ext 107. There is a minimum fee for shipping and handling.
